Quilt - handmade, handstitched and handcut
A 7,500 year old celebration of womanhood
The name literally means a festival or a celebration when everyone comes together to express love, joy and happiness. One of the most significant moments of celebration and happiness during the time of the Indus Valley Civilization was a girl turning into a woman which signaled a profound transition in her life.
In the Indus Valley society, women were held in high religious esteem and given equal importance as men, as evidenced by the worship of a mother goddess known as Shakti, who symbolized motherhood, fertility, reproduction and the continuation of life. The transition of a daughter into a woman was a moment of great joy, celebrated through elaborate festivities marked by immense love expressed through various adornments full of vibrant colors and intricate design.
