Quilt - handmade, handstitched and handcut
The desert reborn
Handcrafted by desert dwellers for generations in the region that was once part of the Indus Valley Civilization, this art piece is a celebration of the rebirth of the desert after the rains. Struggling to survive under the harsh desert conditions, the rains bring the barren land to life and add vibrant colors to an otherwise dreary existence.
The desert life though difficult does offer moments of reprieve. The nights are cool and welcoming, the sky is always clear and the stars shine brightly above. In the distance, the winds hum a melodious tune. When the rains come, it brings greenery to the surroundings and is a time for the desert people to rejoice, enjoy the earth’s bounty and count their blessings.
